Rebecca Challis
Rebecca is a young Cornish artist living and working in a small village near St Austell.
She uses acrylic on canvas as she says this gives her the freedom to experiment with colour and shape. She enjoys using large brushes to apply the paint and often mix colours on the canvas. This helps to give her paintings energy and life. Rebecca's paintings are inspired by the places and landscapes around her.
"I love the colours, shapes and atmosphere in Cornwall and feel that this is reflected in my paintings. The places near my home are those which inspire me the most, Pentewan, Charlestown, Porthpean, Mevagissey, Fowey are all beautiful places. When walking around these places you can hear and smell the sea. By using bright colours and lines, these other senses are represented."
