Westcliff Pottery
A studio pottery established in Fowey in 2005 by Barry Marshall-Johnson following a move to Cornwall and some time at Wenford Bridge with Seth Cardew. Westcliff Pottery mainly produces thrown or hand built vessels, ceramic wall hangings and tea bowls. The stoneware clay used is extensively modified with local clay or beach sand found on the nearby Cornwall coast to reflect the gritty nature of this shore. Maintaining the aim of using locally found materials, pots may be decorated with either simple local clay slips fired to 1250 C or glazes made from garden ash, granite dust or locally found clay.
